We're back!
Another summer, the same garden
Dear gardeners,
Long time no see.
We hope you all survived whatever the last eight months were (it’s not even really worth describing).
Now we find ourselves back where we started. Somewhere not totally uncomfortable between oveheating and luxuriating as we ride our bicyles up and down. Our schedules slacken, our vision loosens its grip as our hair frizzes out. It’s as if, with the speed of a thunder clap, we’re back in last year, or the year before, or even 2016 or 2006. But of course it will never be that simple. Just because the breeze stagnates, the pool water is perfectly still at night, and bugs get trapped in the corner of the ceiling like in previous years, doesn’t mean we’re redoing anything. Repetition is a mystery everywhere except in nature—however you’d like to think of that category. The plants grow anew in the same spot, make the same buds, the same fruit, and that’s it. All done.
Summer is back at Dye Jardin Papillon. As always, there’s an abundance of activities planned for the next few months, so pay attention if you’re so inclined.
The 123 Movies Joy Watchers Film Club, curated by Shahan Assadourian, returns to Dye Jardin for another season. This year the theme is “movies with numbers, from zero to infinity,” beginning next Tuesday 7 July with the movie Zero Patience (1993), directed by John Greyson. The screening was meant to be last night but because of a tornado warning (?!) we postponed.
We’ll write againt next week with more information about our summer programming, but for now one thing to mention is that we’re always looking for volunteers. The garden has seriously grown, as it should, over the past few years. If you’re interested in volunteering you can write to us at dyejardinpapillon@gmail.com
Enjoy the day off and hope to see you all soon.
GG
